Home Outage Plan

Find the backup power that fits your home.

Tell us what you need to keep running and a little about your home. We compare your answers with manufacturers’ published specifications and show three ways through an outage: a battery, a generator, or both together.

1

What do you need to keep running?

Switch on each plug-in item. Starting figures come from Honda’s published wattage guide; the label on your own appliance is more accurate, so enter it under “Another plug-in device” if you know it.

0 Wrunning together
0 Whighest starting moment

Hard-wired or 240-volt items

Select any you hoped to power. We will tell you what that involves, but this tool does not plan them.

Medical equipment

Select any that you rely on.

2

How long are the outages you are planning for?

Choose the longest outage you want to be ready for.
3

Your home

What kind of home is it?
Where could a generator run?
Can you store fuel safely (gasoline or propane tanks)?
4

Nights and weather

Do you need quiet power through the night?
Do your outages often happen in freezing weather?

Shown on your printed plan only. It does not change the results.
